World Cultures

Students will make connections to other cultures through a variety of means. Real experiences will promote interest and inquiry of world cultures. Students will have the opportunity to explore global art and music, experience ethnic foods, and delve into other cultures through hands-on experience.

Introduction to Geography

Students will be introduced to the study of geography and will learn about the human and physical geography of various countries.  Students will explore such topics as population and settlement patterns, culture, how they physical environment is modified and changed, governments and economics systems and modern issues that impact the countries that are studied. 

Forensic Sciences Introduction

Students will learn about the chemistry, physics, and biology of crime scene investigation (CS) by exploring such topics as fingerprinting, DNA analysis, handwriting/forgery analysis, interview techniques, and fiber analysis. Students will apply their learning during lab activities to construct a solution to the mysteries they are provided. Students will collect and analyze data to support a logical conclusion.

Physical Education

Students will continue to develop skills in a variety of team and individual sports. Students will learn healthy strategies in the areas of fitness, nutrition, and social emotional well-being.

Peer Support Intern

This program is used to provide typical peer supports for students with special needs in the middle school environment. Peer partners work with students in the classroom setting, and may assist with transitions, academic, prevocational, and social activities. To register for this class, students must complete a ASD20 application packet available in Student Services and will be interviewed.

Workplace Intern

Students will work in an office/library/classroom setting as an assistant to the staff. The student will receive a copy of expectations, will be trained on how to complete the assigned tasks, and will receive an evaluation of their performance.
