Industrial Manufacturing
Students will develop the ability to visualize and to draw three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface. Topics of study may include one-, two-, and three-point perspective drawing, shading/rendering round shapes, and constructing a woodworking project. Students will use various hand tools, drill presses, palm sanders, band saws, and wood burners.
Industrial Technology
Students will expand and develop their technological literacy in our technology lab. Our lab is a commercially based learning environment. Students work in groups to design and complete projects that may include structural design, rocketry, architectural design, and computer programming.
Coding and Robotics
This is a beginning course in coding and robotics. The course will introduce students to basic programming as well as problem solving strategies. Students will use industry standard software to learn about development, building, and programming.
Computer Design
Students will practice keyboarding skills using Type to Learn. They will learn about online safety, how to spot online hoaxes, and how to safely do online searches.
Students will receive an invitation to a Google site and contribute one page to the group website. They will learn about design during the production of this unit. Students use Audacity to record stories and Vokis, a 21st Century online tool that allows them to create a character that will speak. Students will create a poster on endangered animals using Microsoft Word. They will learn various tools in Microsoft Word as they create an aesthetically pleasing poster including well-written information to enhance literacy skills. They will also complete a PowerPoint presentation about themselves as they learn more about design and how to be efficient with tools available in Microsoft PowerPoint.
