About Your Teacher I am originally from Texas, but have lived in Colorado for 4 years. I have been married for 30 years, have 9 children and 8 grandchildren. Of the 9, I still have 2 at home. My son, Hunter, is a 10th Grader at Vista Ridge. My youngest daughter, Rachel, is a 7th Grader here at MRMS. This is my 12th year teaching, but this is my 2nd year teaching at Mountain Ridge Middle School. My degree is in both Middle School Math & Science and love to teach through hands on/experimentation. I was very blessed to attend a 5 day training this summer for our CPM textbooks. These books will help foster learning by "doing" and not just learning formulas, plugging in numbers and solving problems. We will be deriving our own formula's and learning when they work and what to do when they don't. We will be working in teams and learning the appropriate ways to make learning in cooperative groups successful.
Homework will be assigned M-Th, Fridays for tests/quizzes. Homework is your time to practice what we are learning in class. Homework will be graded as an effort grade. If all of the problems are complete, with ALL WORK SHOWN, the assignment will receive full credit. If only answers are written, with no work shown, no credit will be given. Homework assignments are due the next day. Late assignments will result in a grade reduction of 10% for every day that it is late. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get your missing assignments.
Miss a Day?
It is important to be in class everyday, as it is so easy to fall behind. So, please come as much as possible. If you do miss, it is your responsibility to get your notes and assignments from me. You have 5 days to make up a test or quiz. If you miss homework or classwork, you will have one day for every day you were out to make it up.
